Chanting from The Sacred Voice
Learning chants can be simple, fun and can be used both personally and for gatherings as centering, calming and focusing prayers. A regular personal chanting practice leads to the focus of awareness, sharpening and increasing our attention span, keeping our attention on the present moment, helping us to take action from a state of acknowledging what is. A chant circle is part of our modern version of gathering around a communal fire. Some possible outcomes of this practice are calm strength, stability of emotions, and cognitive consonance with a grounded and centred state of mind. This workshop includes an exploration of mantras and their practice.

In this workshop you will learn about:
•Connecting your voice with the energy of your emotional world and the Divine
•Creating vocal power and ease through whole body breath
•Singing your song from the heart

David Embry Solest DMA, is a classically trained musician in flute, composition and voice. Having graduated from the University of Victoria 1995, he went on to study Naked Voice facilitation in Ireland, California and at Hollyhock with Chloe Goodchild and Gregorian chant in France with Iegor Reznikoff. David has dedicated his life to the study and teaching of Mantra/Nada yoga (yoga of music) a practice inspired by Swami Sivananda Radha. http://bluelotusmusic.com/ Change through Music

I have worked to understand the relationship of sound, consciousness, awareness and the working of the mind through music. As well, devotion, which arises within the act of musical expression from many cultures and traditions, is of great interest to me. Music has become a personal spiritual practice and when playing and teaching expresses a Sacred Voice.
